Presentation Overview
This month, Brian will provide an in-depth look at JS8Call and its evolving role in Emergency Communications (EmComm). We will explore how this robust digital mode—based on the FT8 protocol—allows for directed messaging and networking even under weak signal conditions. The session will cover practical setup, tactical messaging capabilities, and how JS8Call can be a vital tool for maintaining reliable communication links when traditional infrastructure fails.


About the Presenter: Brian Haren, W8BYH, is a retired US Army Chief Warrant Officer and geospatial engineer with over 30 years of experience in amateur radio. A long-time member of the Fayette County Amateur Radio Club and former Club President, Brian is a recognized expert in emergency communications, digital mapping, and portable power systems. He currently serves as the Exercise Coordinator for Georgia AUXCOMM and Fayette County ARES, and he maintains the Georgia ARES situational awareness mapping tools used throughout the state.
