09 Aug August 2023 CLUB MEETING – Asheville Radio Museum with WA5EYI
Join us for the in-person August 2023 meeting of the Fayette County Amateur Radio Club on 8/31/23 @ 7pm. All are welcome.
This month’s program will be “A Virtual Tour of the Asheville Radio Museum” presented by Stuart Smolkin, WA5EYI, the Museum Secretary and Curator. Here’s some information about our guest speaker.
- Grew up in New Orleans and became a ham in the 1950s in pursuit of a boy scout merit badge in radio.
- Now retired and living in Asheville after being president of a regional personal computer store chain, president of a CAD applications software development company and most recently having a three decade career as senior executive helping create a worldwide industrial products manufacturing company.
- Joined the Asheville Radio Museum around six years ago as a tour guide volunteer and became its driving force as the founders (21 years ago) passed away. Currently the Curator, Secretary and a board member, participating with a small group of talented volunteers passionate about radio.
Meeting will be held at the Fayette County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 110 Volunteer Way, Fayetteville, GA. The EOC is co-located with the 911 center. We plan to stream the meeting live via Zoom – here’s the link.
