By Brian Haren
Meeting Date: October 29th, 2026
Time: 7:00 PM EDT
Location: Fayette County Emergency Operations Center
110 Volunteer Way, Fayetteville, GA
Presentation Overview
ALE – Automatic Link Establishment – is a system that allows geographically dispersed HF stations operating within a network to identify the ideal communications path between each station using link quality analysis (LQA). In an ALE net, stations listen continuously for ‘soundings’ from other radios in the network, and assign a link quality value based on time of day, signal strength, SNR and other factors. This allows the ALE application to select the most likely channel frequency for successful communications any time of day, based on real-world signals analysis.
